For the past 32 years, our comprehensive Elementary Health Education Program has been one of
the programs that has helped define the Three Village Central School District and set it apart from so many others.
Since 1979, our students have been receiving classroom instruction taught by a highly qualified, certified Health Education instructor throughout grades 1-6.
During this unique, interactive special area class, students are able to gain both the knowledge and
skills they need to guide them toward making safe, healthy choices as they grow into young adults.
Studies prove that a comprehensive health education curriculum lays the foundation which helps students create and maintain lifelong healthful habits.
In this day and age of school violence, bullying, drug use, conflicting media messages and overall
uncertainty, this effective program and the tools it provides our students is essential to the development of our youth. Dr. Jack Foley implemented this program over three decades ago with the foresight to realize that in this ever changing world, student’s health and decision making would benefit greatly from the knowledge and skills they gain from the information provided to them during these impressionable years.
Elementary Health Education class provides our students with information and skills related to so many
pertinent, serious topics that deserve our utmost attention. Some areas of study include social and emotional learning, decision making, goal setting, making and maintaining healthy friendships, diversity, safety, bullying,
effective communication skills, body systems, avoiding harmful substances, nutrition and mental health.
Our District's Elementary Health Education Program services over 4,000 student’s district wide per year. Aside from its vast reach, this is also a program which affects every Three Village student. From our special education, general education and our IG population, every Three Village student benefits from our Elementary Health program.
